A new two-story office addition to an existing single story building more than tripled the floor area. New towers were added to the existing single story roof at the street-front corner and over the main entry to match the new roof line of the addition.  Second floor utilized Mass Plywood Panels (MPP) to maximize the span and limit the floor depth.   A mix of steel framing and traditional wood framing were used in this addition.

The original 1910 wood framed warehouse was destroyed by fire in 2021.  Due to our prolonged relationship with Marion-Polk Food Share, our office provided the evaluation and assessment on the fire damaged building and served as EOR on the new 10,000 square foot replacement facility.  The new building is designed explicitly to support retail and warehousing for food distribution

The historic adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of the Roth & McGilchrist building has served to revitalize Salem’s downtown core.  These two 1916 structures were stripped down to the original studs and conjoined to become one building.  During demolition, a program of tenant spaces and occupant needs was developed.  The Roth & McGilchrist building underwent major structural repairs and seismic upgrades, including concrete footings, shear walls, steel beams and columns, as well as hundreds of new floor joists.
